Granted chatting on IM is very much a waste of time, it's not as retarded as some may think. Sure, it takes less time to have a conversation via phone, but it's CHEAPER than a long distance phone call. BONUS, YES. And most of the people whom I hold near and dear to my heart are long distance, so there's something completely awesome about being able to talk to my friend in France while talking to my friend in L.A. while chatting with my friend in Jersey. Damn awesome.

But let's add awesome on top of awesome, shall we? If you keep the same retarded screenname you've had since high school, then fabulous long lost friends can find you. Just like yesterday, when my friend Brett, who's been a total inspiration to me all my life and I haven't seen in a good seven years, popped up out of nowhere on my computer screen. That's just dripping with all-natural homecooked awesomeness.

Seven years! That's such a long time, and I love it. I love being able to suddenly find an old friend and be able to talk to each other like no time has ever passed. It's such the best feeling, and it keeps happening to me over and over again.
